Apologies now for the science lesson, however, it is essential to let you know how important and beneficial pure organic essential oils can be in promoting total body wellness.

From the moment you inhale a fragrance the molecules that contain scent enter your nasal lining (Olfactory epithelium ). The olfactory epithelium contains receptor neurons from the olfactory bulb, tiny little soldiers that trap those essential oil scent molecule, these little receptor neurons don’t only trap these molecule, but they send electrical impulses to your brains olfactory bulb (the control centre for smell). It is then the Olfactory bulbs job to signal the Amygdala, the section of the brain which controls your emotional memories.

A huge reason why some smells trigger an emotional response or reaction. For example the smell of cookies baking in a hot oven- reminds me of spending time in my Nans kitchen baking, getting covered in flour, making a mess, whilst she taught me how the bake and shared her secret recipes.

Swaying a little off course there, but you get the gist, back to business. Olfaction (sense of smell) is the only one of the five senses that is linked to the limbic system, the part of the brain which controls your autonomic & endocrine functions, such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and hormonal balances, in the instance of stimuli.

The limbic system helps regulate fear, anger, depression, anxiety, happiness and general wellbeing. It’s no wonder pure natural essential oils make us feel so damn good.

Our brain needs all those good natural chemicals that our body produces, to function, however, it sometimes seems they need a little kick up the bum with some pure natural essential oils, to get those receptor neurons sending happy, healthy messages to our brain.

If you feel that your receptor neutrons could do with a kick start jump over to my online store and suss out the range of products that I have available to do just that.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed my blog, please feel free to drop me a line or leave a comment.

Something to ponder over -Have you ever held your nose when eating something delicious and wondered why it doesn't taste as nice, or does not taste at all, it's all to do with your olfactory bulb?

Remember that natural beauty and wellness comes from within.

Cheers
